Engine DigitalEngine Digital - RPM A digital Newsletter
New Ideas, Inspirations & Innovations

Hello World,

While we patiently wait for summer in what appears to be the longest springtime ever, we'd like to take this opportunity to reconnect with our clients and associates through another infrequent Engine Digital RPM E-Newsletter. The past quarter has kept the studio a buzz, with the addition of new clients, new hires, and a good deal of digital marketing campaign and web project launches.

"We're excited with the direction of things, and it is certainly a fantastic time to be in this business", states Stephen Beck, Partner and Co-Creative Director at Engine Digital. "There seems to be a huge amount of potential with so many of the client brands we're seeing; brands that are now starting to embrace the full scope of what online allows." These growth opportunities have allowed Engine Digital to make strides towards becoming a full service Digital Marketing agency, providing all aspects of successful online marketing, and helping clients to better utilize their online channel.

"We're also happy to report that the recent spike in oil costs has not affected our rates", notes Richard Gallagher, Partner and Co-Creative Director.

Below, we've included some of our recent work, industry white paper links, and other relevant content. Please enjoy, and feel free to forward our E-Newsletter on to your own contacts.

Featured Project - Engine Oil Wine Engine Oil Wine

Over the winter holiday season, Engine Digital launched a campaign to thank our esteemed clients for their ongoing interest in our services. Our desire to provide an entertaining online experience, and showcase some of our current digital marketing capabilities brought about Engine Oil Wine. Engine Oil Wine is not your typical vintner. You'll note that Engine Oil Wine takes a more economical approach to the wine making process.

Unfortunately Engine Oil Wine is only available to clients in the Greater Vancouver area (you can thank Canada Post and USPS for that).

Project - Great Western Brewing

New Clients

Great Western Brewing
Working with our friends over at St. Bernadine's Mission, Engine Digital has assumed the role of digital marketing agency for Saskatoon, Saskatchewan-based Great Western Brewing, including its premium and value brands. Working with St. Bernadine's, we're providing Great Western with a fully integrated, year-long campaign that drives awareness and provides customers with web-based interactions, deepening their connection to the brand.

Brewhouse
More recently, Engine Digital launched an updated microsite for Brewhouse, the company's value brand. Customers who purchase Brewhouse by the case will receive a branded disposable camera. They are asked to visit the website and submit their 'Ultimate Brewhouse Moments' captured on that old stuff called film. When the campaign closes, one lucky winner will receive a Canon EOS Digital Rebel DSLR. "The goal with Brewhouse is to get the customer to engage with the brand while staying true to the value aspects of the product. We're transparent with the fact that we have only 1 prize to give away", notes Richard Gallagher.

TELUS 2007 Online Annual Report
For the second year in a row, the Engine Digital team has been tasked with the creation of the TELUS Online Annual Report. The 2006 iteration was released to wide acclaim, receiving Web Marketing Association's WebAward for "Outstanding Achievement in Website Development". Such was TELUS' experience with Engine Digital during the first year that we were selected to continue with this year's Online Annual Report by proclamation, which launched at the beginning of April 2008.

The 2007 report brought with it an opportunity to innovate, leading our strategy towards a more immersive brand experience, and a more effective display of financial data. To improve the richness of site content, a series of video-based storytelling elements were developed to help deepen the online experience. The principal innovation accepted by the TELUS Executive team was an application that allows visitors to generate a customized PDF of the Financial Review. This provides users with a simple and intuitive way to select specific sections and chapters in the report and create a customized PDF for download.

As this is an immensely significant piece of the TELUS business profile, our team is tremendously proud to have the opportunity and the trust of the TELUS Executive Team in the annual launch of this content online. We look forward to providing further innovation within the Online Annual Report in the coming years, as its printed counterpart is scaled back further in order to meet environmental and Corporate Social Responsibility goals.

Givin' It Back
Engine Digital has begun work on a couple of campaigns in support of our local community and industry. Working with TAXI Vancouver, we are creating a campaign microsite to help increase awareness and membership for The Land Conservancy of BC. We hope to launch by the next time we send out our E-Newsletter, so that all of our contacts can head over and pledge their membership fees.

We have also begun work on the redesign of the International Internet Marketing Association (IIMA) website. IIMA helps marketers understand the value and potential of marketing on the web.

Worthy Links
The web is a vast place. As usual, this space is where we help you find the good stuff that's worth checking out. This time, we're focusing on educational experience-based websites we think are making a positive impact.

The Story of Stuff
Created by Tides Foundation & Funders Workgroup for Sustainable Production and Consumption, The Story of Stuff provides an animated approach to help us more fully understand the negative aspects of our current production and consumption habits, while exposing the connection between the enormous environmental and social problems we face today. This subject affects us all, and this animated site does a great job of making things crystal clear.

TED
TED, or Technology, Entertainment, Design began in 1984 as a conference bringing together people from those three worlds. Since then its scope has continued to expand, becoming a meeting ground for the world's most fascinating thinkers and doers, who deliver exceptionally impressive presentations in short 18 minute segments. This site provides visitors with free access to more than 200 talks from the TED archive, with more added each week. This is a great site, designed and built around an incredible and ever growing pool of content. It will quickly become a daily visit.
